Moving Out

Before you leave please do the following to ensure that you get your deposit back:

  • Remove all personal belongings from the house
  • Place trash at the road for the next pick up
  • Clean tile with vinegar and water solution.
  • Please remove all stickers, picture hanging nails, command strips, etc. Do not patch holes with a putty knife and spackling or do paint touchup,  poor repairs will result in more work and costs to everyone. It is a violation of your lease to make unauthorized repairs to the home. The landlord will hire a professional painter to do sheetrock and paint work. The landlord will cover the repair cost for normal wear and tear; however sheetrock work for nail holes or excessive wear and tear will be deducted from the deposit.  
  • Clean hardwood with Bona hardwood cleaner (this is a PH neutral cleaner) using other cleaners can damage the wood.
  • Vacuum carpet.   If needed, have professional cleaned.
  • Clean the bathrooms
  • Flush toilets one last time before water is cut off
  • Clean the kitchen, including the oven if needed
  • Cut the grass (unless dormant)
  • Put garage door remotes in drawer by the refrigerator
  • Replace air filter.
  • Contact utility companies and schedule termination for the day after you will be completely out.  Power and water must be on for final inspection.
  • Return keys

Once keys have been returned, we will check condition of the house and a write you a check for the remainder of the deposit once any partial rent and any damages are deducted.  Following these steps will help ensure a smooth transition for the next renter.  Thank you for your cooperation.

If you have a home being built by Legacy Premier Homes, Inc. please do the following steps as well:

  • To help with the transition into your new home we realize that you may want to have a few days after your home closes to move into the new home.    We also know you want to keep expenses to a minimum.   So please determine the date you plan to have everything out and have the home cleaned and let us know this at least two weeks before closing so we can coordinate the timing of the next person moving in.
